Day 14: Birmingham

We didn’t go anywhere today, having seen the awful weather forecast so instead we enjoyed a day in Birmingham. We began by having a cup of tea with Andy and Helen of Wand’ring Bark/the Jam Butty. We’d not properly met before thanks to missing each other on several occasions so I’d texted to see if they were free. As luck would have it they were on their way back from a washed out Blisworth festival and so drove through Birmingham on their way home.  Simon and Ann also joined us. It was lovely to finally meet them properly!

Then we headed up to the top of the Library just as the rain cleared. Spectacular views from the top!

Next we went for a walk and had pie and mash for lunch before visiting the city museum and art gallery where they had an excellent exhibition of the work of cartoonist and inventor Rowland Emmit. It was brilliant- his whimsical drawings and crazy creations were wonderful.  Well worth a visit!

We had a nice dinner with Simon and Ann, and thankfully the pub next to Cambrian Wharf is quiet this evening!

Edited to add a few photos sent to us by the lovely Jo an Hadar who met us at the bottom of Hatton. I never have any pics of me steering!

Lovely meeting you too! Got home & weighed the plums: 13.8kgs – looks like I’m going to be busy!!

Sounds like you all had a lovely day, weather was lovely this morning, however this pm was a different story, now we’ve got wind and sun. What are your plans for the Bank Holiday, Market Drayton or Alvecote?. Those photos that Jo took of you make you look so tall, cabin top comes up to rib age lol.
Have a good evening, catch you tomorrow!
